Some layouts

Not much happening around here. The girls and I have seen a few movies. I've managed to do a bit of scrapping.

I seriously, seriously have to learn to use up my supplies on my pages - maybe I need to make that a goal and go on a mad scrapping rampage and try and do  a stack of pages!! All I seem to use is cardstock, and my pens or paints! I've just ordered another $180.00 worth of stuff online, too, so I really need to get rid of some old stock!

This layout uses a transparency/paint technique to create the flowers. Because I'm totally in a poppy phase right now, I'm calling these flower poppies, though, yeah, I know, they look a bit like roses. LOL. I did a quick video of the technique - below the layout, if you want to check out how to do this. I really need to find a better editing program that will let me put wording, etc over the top of the video, that way I wouldn't have to use the kitchsy pre-made stuff that comes with the one I'm using.

Work_of_art

Here's the layout background pre photo & journalling:

Work_of_art_poppies_3 Another layout - this one is Erin with the class pet "cocoa" when it came for a weekend home visit.

The scrolls are hand-stitched, and the flowers drawn on with a white pen.

Cocoa

More Erin. A super-simple layout. Aaaaaaannnnnd....... I actually used something from my supplies in this one! Yeehah! The flower & button (Making Memories from the noteworthy range), yeah, I'm really going to make a dint in my supplies at this rate!

Large red flower & black flower are handcut from cardstock.

Love this pic :)

I still haven't used my poppy brushes that I made a few posts back, but, check out this layout made by Shelly, using them :)

Love it!

Tomorrow I take John to go buy some more clothes for work. He's too scared to tackle the shops by himself and needs me to hold his hand a direct his purchases.

When he goes alone he ends up taking hours and coming back with nothing (or what he does come back with is crap!) LOL.

Not to mention the stress induced trauma I have to deal with afterwards - the crying, the tantrums, the aversion to all shopping centres for months. Seriously, it's not pretty.

Have a great weekend, y'all!

apathy......

......yep, I've got it! There's so many things I should be doing, but I just can't be bothered. Except for reading....yeah, I can do that!! I think the fact that my gym doesn't hold classes over the school break is not helping, I'm just barely managing to do my yoga each day. I set myself up on the verandah. Love it once I get into it, 'cos, the view from there is great, there's usually a breeze, and that whole endorphin thing is going on once I'm done :) Nothing like have your legs and knees over your ears in the "plough" to make you feel good. LOL.

Transition I did get this layout done over the weekend. Hard to see, but the circles & leaves have been varnished with glossy accents to highlight them. The background is also my all time fave colour of cardstock, white, not grey/blue like it appears here.

Leaves and circles have been handcut - I used a compass to draw the circles, but just freehand-ed the leaves. Originally (as with almost everything I do), there was a lot more on this, but I pared it down to how it loos now.

I think it works with the photo.

The title is apt for a couple of reasons. This pic was taken just after alana's mouth surgery to expose her canaines & before she had her braces put on, so her teeth, which had previously looked perfect, are kind of everywhere. Also, this is the stop between the no makeup, blonde-hair, natural look, and her current, lotsa makeup, black hair, studded collars everywhere look. LOL

Ben is coming home for an overnight visit tonight so he can catch up with his friends, do some shopping, donate blood, and, oh, yeah, and maybe see a bit of his family.

Taking the girls & one of Erin's friends to see Enchanted today. Alana will take the girls for the price of the movie ticket - a bargain if I do say so myself. It'll give me a chance to go look for a skirt. I have been looking for a knee length summer skirt for AGES - there seems to be nothing suitable around - it's almost impossible to find knee length skirst for a start, and what I've seen so far is crap. I've got a very fixed idea in my head and hope that I can find something today - I have an interview on Friday that I want it for :)

Until next time.

Hasta la vista baby! hx

39 TODAY! 39 TODAY........!!

o.k., it actually was yesterday, but, I couldn't resist the chance to sing. It's a real problem, just ask the kids and their friends who are often subjected to my sudden outbursts of song, regardless of where we are. Though, I have to say, they're more at risk of an impromptu concert when stuck in the car with me. There's no escape for them then! Well, except to their MP3's, but then I just turn up the volume and sing louder. LOL!

Last post, I mentioned  project 365, though for me it should be called project 364 - I began it on the on 2nd of January, though, isn't this year a leap-year? If so, then the title's still working for me! LOL!

365_project For me, I totally wanted to keep this simple so that I might actually have a chance of carrying it on through the whole year. I'm uploading the photos into an online album here, as well as periodically getting them printed up and putting them into a regular "one page a day" diary.

This means I can keep the prints all together and organised, then at the end of the year, I'll remove the spine and bind the pages.

I'm not going to do much to the inside pages, just the odd bit of doodling, if I feel like it, sometimes it might just be the photo and caption whacked on the page.

365_project_2 I don't want to create huge expectations for myself, as I know I won't be able to achieve them for the volume and scope of this project. So, getting a photo each day & keeping it simple & easy are my only goals.

365_project1

One of the things that I love about using the diary, is that I have the date right there, it's going to keep it all together, I have plenty of room for journalling, and I can even circle the time that the photo was taken. Gotta love that!

O.k., I'm trying something I've never done before - I've put the poppy brushes from the previous post into a file, which should (hopefully), enable them to be downloaded. Please tell me if it does, or doesn't work :)

36504 Here's a pic from last night (and, co-incidentally my 4th Jan pic for the day), from the front of the theatre. We had to stand on our toes over Erin to get both her, and part of the theatre signage in the photo. I really love these "smooshed up" self portraits even though they're frequently NOT flattering. To me they have "real" appeal to them.

We really enjoyed the movie. I've now ordered the book through the library to check it out.

Below......a pic of me and my mum. It took me 3 tries to get this one. Mum totally cracked me up - she didn't look in the camera for the first couple of shots - the photos look like I've just sidled up to a total stranger and took a photo with them. LOL.

Img_0624 It's great to get photos like this, and hopefully, one of the things that the "photo a day" project is going to do is make sure I have my camera on me a lot more & am able to get a lot more day-to-day photographs. All of these shots (except for the diary), have been taken with my little digital camera that slips into my handbag.

Another hot one for melbourne today.

Have a great weekend, y'all!

Thursday

My birthday tomorrow! We're taking the girls to see the Golden Compass at Gold Class, so, hopefully it's a good movie! I've heard mixed reviews.

Erin3707 Pulled out the pencils today and did some sketching to create this layout.

I have been hooked on this colour combination (orange, green, pink) for at least 2 years! LOL! I'm so boring!

A few diamantes that match the colours used in the scrolls, etc, but they don't show up that well.

Love this b&w of erin :)

If you'd like the design:

Click here for the jpg diagram of this design & select print. (hopefully this works!!!) Alternatively, if you want to play with the size, you could "select all", then "copy", if it doesn't work, send me an email and I'll send the jpg.

I followed a link to this, and loved, loved the idea. So, decided I would have a go at doing it, but wanted to keep it super-super simple! I was trying to think of ways that I could keep a record of the photos without having to create an album with this many pages, etc. Last night, about 2am I was awake, and had the thought that I could buy a "page-a-day" diary and put the photos in this. I know it'll get too big, but ultimately, I can just pull out the binding and spiral bind the pages. This way it'll keep everything together for now until I'm done, I can use the pages to indicate times of photos, etc. So far I love it! I missed out on day 1, but took photos yesterday & today. I'm keeping the pages as is with just journalling & a little bit of sketching, if I feel like it. Will photograph my pages in a few days and upload.

I've got a bit of a poppy obsession going on at the moment and sketched a few whilst I was waiting for photos to upload for me to edit. I've turned them into brushes & want to do some stuff with them just need to find the right photo/s.

Check them out:

Poppy_brushes

The green background was a result of trying to fill one of the leaves and the colour slipping through the gap. Loved it, so I kept it like this.

Can't wait to play with these!

Have a great day!!
